Monoprint is...
A printmaking technique that creates a single image from a smooth surface or "plate" coated with printing ink. The plate can be made of glass, metal, litho stone, wood, celluloid, or oilcloth. The image can be created by painting or making a collage on the plate, or by inking the plate in a unique way. The artist can also rework the image between impressions or after printing to create prints that are not identical.
